Serve Our Community

We believe that serving others is part of what it means to follow Jesus. We serve our neighbors in a variety of ways.

  • Resurrection Preschool is an outreach ministry of the Resurrection Episcopal Church, serving ages 18 months to 5 years of age and offering both half day and full day classes with a Christian curriculum. Financial assistance is available.

  • Provides nourishing foods to alleviate food insecurity in our county. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  • Provides medical care to low-income adults who lack health insurance and are suffering from conditions including diabetes, hypertension, asthma and cardiovascular disease. Patients can also be referred for dental care when appropriate through a grant from our church.

  • A ministry through which we collect donated furniture and house ware for furnishing and equipping homes for those in need. Referrals come to us from community ministries and service organizations that provide assistance to indigent and homeless individuals and families.

  • A faith-based non-profit that is dedicated to providing hope, healing, love and acceptance to children in a nurturing farm environment through the spirit and love of a horse.

The program serves children who are struggling with various difficulties including bullying, loss of a parent through death or incarceration, and other life challenges. Children are referred by CASA, DFACS and area school systems. Volunteer opportunities are available including mentoring a child or a parent/caregiver, helping care for the horses and barn or the garden and grounds, and helping children with projects in the WHYR Art Room.

  • A not-for-profit, all-volunteer service organization which coordinates efforts of local churches, individuals and other entities to streamline emergency funding to White County residents in need.

Primary areas of assistance include rent or mortgage, utilities and other emergency items deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors. Applications are received each month and processed by participating churches on a rotating basis. Funds are distributed directly to the service providers rather than to the individuals.

  • A registered 501(c)(3) Christian Ministry and Transitional Workforce Development Center for men with the mission to end homelessness, reduce recidivism and eradicate dependency. The 12-month residential program targets personal development through life skills lessons, good habits, work ethic and character. The goal is to help the men become self-sufficient and productive members of society by obtaining full-time employment and a non-subsidized place to live. North Georgia Works is located in Gainesville and serves men in Hall and surrounding counties. Volunteers are needed as mentors and as instructors in the Life Skills curriculum.

  • Delivers innovative solutions for family homelessness including prevention, shelter and stabilization services. We provide meals several weeks out of each year and provide other opportunities to serve, too.

  • Provides a warm and friendly atmosphere that will enrich the lives of seniors in White County. They provide Meals on Wheels, fun activities, field trips, guest speakers, respite care and much more.

  • A nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. We provide opportunities for build days when houses are being built in White County.
