Worship Ministries

Worship is the foundation of our faith life.  As servants of Christ and stewards of God's mysteries, we nurture liturgical and musical excellence.  We are committed to living as a prayerful, hospitable community, inviting others into their own encounter with Jesus Christ.

Acolytes and Crucifers

Primarily the young people of the church serve as acolytes and crucifers who carry the torches and the Cross during the processional and at the Gospel reading during the worship services; however, "mature" parishioners are also invited to serve as crucifer.  We always welcome new people to train for this vital role in our worship service.  Contact:  Katie Rose Ledford (404-545-2750)

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is the ministry that prepares the church (with specific attention to the altar) for worship services, including weddings, funerals and baptisms.  The Altar Guild takes care to ensure that each feast day, most especially in Advent, Christmas, Holy Week and Easter, is celebrated in an appropriate manner to reflect the church season both visually and sacramentally. Contact:  Lana Brown (706-839-6646) or Madeline Braswell (770-617-2455)

Flower Guild

This ministry is for those who love to create beautiful flower arrangements.  Members will arrange flowers at the altar for worship services, as well as special events.  Members of the parish may donate flowers in memory of, or in thanksgiving for, a family member or friend. Donors can sign up for specific Sundays on the sign-up sheet in the narthex. Contact:  Jane Maier (770-841-4066)

Lay Eucharistic Ministry

Lay Eucharistic Ministers serve as chalice bearers during Eucharists.  LEMs also provide in-home communion to those parishioners who are unable to attend church.

Lector Ministry

Lectors read the scripture passages during the worship services.  There is no special training necessary to serve on this ministry.

Greeter Ministry

On designated Sundays, volunteers greet people in the narthex and help them find their name tags as they arrive at church.

Usher Ministry

Ushers welcome worshipers with bulletins, introduce newsomers, answer questions and guide people during our worship service, take up the offering and collect the bulletins for recyling at the end of the service.

Tellers

Volunteers sort and count the Sunday offerings and prepare them for deposit after the service on Sunday.
